HANNAH ATHERTON

Hannah Atherton is a painter based in Narrm/Melbourne whose work draws on film stills, theatrical imagery and found photographs. She reinterprets familiar visual moments, transforming them into layered studies of memory and narrative.

Working with oil and oil pastels, Atherton balances precision with looseness, creating compositions that feel both staged and spontaneous. Her practice explores the tension between control and accident, producing works with a cinematic and emotionally charged quality.

Atherton graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2017 and has exhibited in group and self-curated shows, including DOUBLE at Lupine Studio in Melbourne in 2024 and Off the Kerb in 2025.
