STELLA TAVENER

Stella Tavener is a Narrm/Melbourne-based painter whose practice explores instinct, gesture and emotional expression through abstraction.

Working on large-scale canvases, she prioritises spontaneity and physical engagement, allowing movement and accident to shape composition. Tavener's work embraces rawness, humour and the immediacy of mark-making, treating painting as a performative act. This process-led approach reflects an interest in presence, play and embodied experience.

Tavener recently completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at RMIT University and is undertaking Honours studies. Her exhibitions include solo presentations at Changing Room Galleries in Melbourne, incorporating painting, performance and collaborative sound elements.
